CARL COREY
Carl Corey - b. 1954 Chicago
I was born in Chicago in 1954. My earliest memories are of the wonderful times and places my parents shared with me. Simple things; drive ins, picnics at Lake Michigan, riding our bikes around the neighborhood, and the family road trips. I always remember the special feelings those road trips gave me. The opportunity to explore, see new places, meet people, and make friends. The wonder at what's around the next corner, where will this road take us? As I matured I realized some of those trips were closer to home than my memory had made them, but they were still full of excitement and anticipation. I truly believe this is where my desire to photograph came from. The inspiration to explore and see has never left. In fact it is stronger than ever. What could be a better medium to capture life, document the landscape, and share a vision? Photography is my venue to experience the emotions those trips with my mother and father traveling in our '59 Impala gave me.
