ELLEN DAVIS
RESUME
Ellen Davis grew up in a small town in rural Georgia. She spent her childhood on her great grandfather's farm roaming the pastures with her brother and father, fishing at the pond, and enjoying the outdoors. Nature was the best teacher for this future artist.
After trading in her teaching career for motherhood, Davis began taking art classes at the New Hampshire Institute of Art. She first studied watercolor, and after working in the medium for years she transitioned to oils in the late '90s. Since that time she has studied under some of the best artists, attending workshops throughout New England and the U.S. She will always be a lifelong student of art.
Although based out of her New Hampshire studio, her favorite place to paint is outside, en plein air. From the seacoast to the farmland to the mountains, Davis is always eager to set up her easel, believing that painting from nature gives her the most honest interpretation of the New England landscape. In her work, Davis hopes to show an emotional connection to the places she loves to paint.
