CATHERINE BARTLETT-HIRANI

PROFILE

Upon graduating from Wheaton College with a degree in biology and a minor in art, pursued a successful career in biotechnology for over fifteen years; beginning in academics at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine and the E.K. Upon "retiring" from biotech in 1999 began a serious effort to fully restore late 1860s Victorian home in Arlington, Massachusetts while setting out on a course of study to become a full time artist.

Working largely in acrylic, oil, and collage have produced a strong body of work both representational and abstract with a vision of reflecting a formal interest in both color and the interaction of shapes and forms. Works reflect primarily immediate surroundings with an emphasis on still life and "suburban" landscapes. Through rigorous study and reading have become self-taught in the field of modern art history.
