MEET THE CREW FROM MCGOWAN FINE ART
MARY MCGOWAN
Mary McGowan, EMERITUS, started this business in her barn in 1980. She was a juried jeweler in the League of NH Craftsmen before turning her attention to fine art. She is slowly transitioning to retirement to spend more time with her partner, Lew Feldstein and her twin grandchildren.
SARAH CHAFFEE
I have been gallery director at McGowan Fine Art for since 1997 and a partner in the business since 2000. I love my job so much that many think I would do it for free. The only time I am jealous about another job is when I go on studio visits. Artists live the most interesting lives and collect the most fascinating stuff- whether it is art or postcards or dead birds which they keep in their freezers. These collections are like a peep hole into their lives and say so much more than a written bio. The only other thing that I think I could do with as much zeal would be a professional dog walker.
I have worked as a jeweler, fine art framer, hand weaver and art supply salesperson. In my off time I walk my dog Henry and enjoy reading history books... and lots of volunteer work. I am currently on the board of the Girls Scouts of NH & Vermont. I also take care of the gardens at my town library and serve with the Main Street program in Concord.
My many siblings have provided me with multiple nieces and nephews who simultaneously keep me amused and glad I never had children of my own. Some little known facts about me- I have never, ever had a speeding ticket and I don't know how to tie my shoes correctly. My favorite destination when I am out walking around town is the state house lawn. The trees and shrubbery are so stately and well groomed. It is both quiet & green and bustling with the activity of legislators and residents. I also like to stop at Merrimack County Savings Bank to admire their antique monstrosity of a safe. it is so intriquitely engraved!
AMANDA MCGOWAN LACASSE
Amanda joined the McGowan Fine Art team in 2007. Some of our friends at the Chapel Arts Center at St Anselm College said we should pay attention to her- and we did! After a semester's internship we asked her to join us permanently. She works with corporate clients helping to make their spaces more inviting with art. When she isn't working at McGowan Fine Art she is out changing the world.
BRIAN GILES

Brian has worked at McGowan Fine Art almost as long as Mary McGowan. He quietly and professionally turns out all of our framing. He steadfastly refuses to learn how to use a computer or credit card machine... and won't allow pictures to be taken of him, but this drawing is pretty accurate. He likes obscure words and keeps a dictionary handy should you use one he isn't familiar with. If you really want to get him talking... ask about his cats.
JESSICA PAPPATHAN
Jessica began working with McGowan Fine Art in September of 2011. She received her B.A. in Art History from UMass Lowell, and looks forward to receiving her M.S. in Arts Administration from Boston University in December 2011. She has previous experience in the visual arts field both as an administrator and an assistant curator. When not working with McGowan Fine Art or focusing on her graduate studies, Jessica enjoys spending time with her husband and her two year old son.
