THE COOLIDGE CENTER FOR THE ARTS
at the Wentworth Coolidge Mansion Historic Site


For the summer of 2009 McGowan Fine Art will be running the exhibition program at the the Coolidge Center for the Arts, on the grounds of the Wentworth Coolidge Mansion Historic Site. The site overlooks beautiful Little Harbor about a mile from the center of historic Portsmouth, NH.

The Coolidge Center for the Arts and grounds of the state park are free for all to visit. Mansion tours are free for state residents. There is a small entrance fee for out of state visitors. Directions are at bottom of page.

The Coolidge Center for the Arts' hours are Wednesday through Saturday 10-4 and Sundays 1-5. Our phone number in Portsmouth is 603-491-0222 or you can call the gallery in Concord at 603-225-2515.

Jane Ryan
McGowan Fine Art will be hosting a Plein Aire Painting Weekend at the Coolidge Center for the Arts in Portsmouth on August 8 & 9. Many artists working in varied mediums will be at the Wentworth Coolidge Historic Site or in the surrounding historic cities of Portsmouth and New Castle painting directly from nature. The artists will be painting Saturday from 10-4 and Sunday from 11-3.

Then join the artists at the end of the weekend on Sunday from 3-5 for an opportunity to purchase your own masterpiece. The work will be hung in the gallery at the Coolidge Center for the Arts.



Deb Claffey There will be no rain date! If it is not raining at the beginning of the day the event will begin. If it starts to rain heavily during the day expect the artists to abandon their posts- especially if they are working in watercolor! From the west take Route 101 to Route 95 North. Take Exit to Route 33- right at end of ramp. Go straight through on Middle Rd., veering to right after highway overpass. Straight through lights onto South Street. At next set of lights take a right onto Sagamore Ave (Route 1A South). After cemetary take first left onto Little Harbor Rd. The Coolidge Center for the Arts is at the end of the deadend on the left.

From Downtown Portsmouth take Islington Street, take left onto Summer Street. Go straight through lights at intersection of Middle Street. Go straight through lights at South Street onto Sagamore Ave. Take first left after cemetary onto Little Harbor Rd. Go .7 miles down the dead end road, The Coolidge Center for the Arts is on the left.
